Join the SLO Symphony as they present a "Brave New World" with a unique transcription of Schumann, beloved tunes from Dvorak's masterpiece, and a composition new to nearly all of us!
Mischa Lefkowitz, Nipomo resident and renowned violin soloist, will make his SLO Symphony debut playing Schumann's Violin Concerto in a transcription of the Cello Concerto, Op.129. A member of the first violin section of the LA Philharmonic, his performance of this rarely played transcription is bound to dazzle and should not be missed.
The evening will also feature Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" with members of the SLO Youth Symphony joining the SLO Symphony.
The concert will open with Patrice Rushen's Sinfonia for Orchestra, a Grammy-winning composer known for blending R & B, film scores, and classical music. Rushen made history as the first woman and person of color to conduct at the Grammy Awards in 2005 and 2006 and is best known for her hit single "Forget Me Not" which was the theme for Men in Black.
