The Center for Service in Action (CSA) welcomes all to attend the Change the Status Quo Social Justice & Service Lecture Series keynote event titled "An Evening with Steven Canals."
By launching with an inspiring keynote by Steven Canals and presenting an engaging speaker series in the months to follow, CSA's hope is for attendees to gain new-found sense and understanding of social justice and to find new ways for them to take ownership of their role in moving the needle on social change.
Keynote speaker, Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning Steven Canals, is the Co-Creator and Co-Executive Producer of award-winning "Pose" on FX. This ground breaking series, which explores the ball culture of the African-American, Latino, gay and transgender communities, has had a huge impact on marginalized people and the entertainment industry at large.
Through the Change the Status Quo event, now in its 21st year, the CSA hopes to empower attendees to tap into Cal Poly's Learn by Doing spirit to challenge social norms, ask critical questions, demand solutions and make lasting social change.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
