Experience an evening of beautiful vocal works as music majors and non-music majors join forces for Cal Poly Choirs’ winter concert, “To the Hands”. The title piece, “To the Hands,” is performed by PolyPhonics and features creative engineering projections and lighting by students in the Liberal Arts in Engineering Program and dancers from the Theatre and Dance Department. The piece explores ways in which homelessness is viewed in society and is based loosely on a 17thcentury piece by baroque composer Dietriche Buxtehude titled “Jesu Membra Nostri”. It is a collection of seven short cantatas for soloists, choir and orchestra, and is performed by the Cal Poly Chamber Choir.
The concert also features works performed by Cal Poly’s University Singers and the Cal Poly Cello Ensemble. For more information visit the Music Department calendar website or call (805) 756-2406.
