Arturo O’Farrill is a Mexican American pianist, composer and bandleader known for his work across jazz, Afro-Latin music and contemporary composition. Born in Mexico City and raised in New York, he has built a career that connects established musical traditions with new approaches to orchestration and improvisation.
A six-time Grammy Award winner and two-time Latin Grammy winner, O’Farrill has released nearly 25 albums and collaborated with artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Wynton Marsalis, Harry Belafonte and Carla Bley. He leads the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and founded Belongó, an organization focused on music education, cultural exchange and the traditions of the Americas.
